Battlefield 1918 #5-Looking for Officers

Postby buddydog » Wed Dec 14, 2016 9:03 pm

We are looking for officers for an upcoming Bf1918 campaign.

We need Central Powers HQ plus 2 captains and 2 Entente captains.

If you are up for the job, even with a small amount of free time, feel free to set me and/or ACE (If interested in Entente) a pm.

After New Years. If we can get the officers, perhaps as early as 30 days from now.

But this time, I want the officers in place BEFORE we start. Nothing worse than starting a campaign without active officers...

buddydog did you invite the russians from https://vk.com/club2914815 already ?
They will fill up a division on its own.
Again two-communities-server-side-by-side battles won´t work.
Remember the last 1918 campaign, they built overnight the allied forces for the last battles.

Yeah. I have been talking to them on the Badeweise server. That is why I see more promise in Bf1918 campaigns atm. They seem to be releasing a new mod version soon.

Yeah! Team players from Eastern Europe again in the ranks!
I hope in this tournament will be honest and responsible players!

How many people do you need? :)
Give me time, we want to finish the update and play new map.
p.s. If anyone knows of people who can help us - write to the PM

It doesn't seem like it. I am having the barracks ready for set up shortly.

Noted. We haven't really had a successful German regiment since FHSW #2. I would need a list of at least 5 players for a dedicated German regiment. However, you are welcome to have a mixed, as long as a focus is on International regiment.

Hi Buddydog, hi all,

I am "Cicero", one of the mod developers until 2011.

As you might have heared, together with some talented folks from the russian community (which is organized on the platform VK.com) we have decided to work on a 3.2 patch which focuses on the eastern front and the balkan theatre; see also our presence on modDB where in upcoming news also some pictures of new contents will be presented: http://www.moddb.com/mods/battlefield-1 ... 18-is-back

Similar to past campaigns, I want to offer my support from a developers / mapping perspective.

Did you guys already decide the scenario that the campaign should take place? In my opinion, the eastern front - austria-hungary versus russia would be nice and something unique. For that, we could use existing maps with minor adjustments, as well as new and already finished maps built for 3.2 and converted maps from other mods such as BG42 or possibly FHSW/FHT. In the latter case of course with adjustments as needed, for example there should rarely be a BF1918 map without at least one small trench ;)

While the eastern front in general was characterized by mobile warfare - e.g. open field battles with light armoured cars and some planes/balloons(!) - there were also remarkable trenchfights and battles similar to the western front, such as the siege of Przemysl or the fierce winter battles in the Carpathian mountains.

Further, we should discuss which mod we want to use- i.e. the vanilla bf1918 or the minimod bf1918-fht, which is a bit more "realistic" (no bunnyhopping), and for which we could also include new maps and new assets of 3.2 even before it's release. New and already finished assets would include, for examples, the Austin Armoured Car, which would be the russian opponent for the Austrian Junovicz Armoured Car.

happy to discuss! cheers!
Cicero

Hello Cicero,

We have already planned for another Middle Eastern campaign with most of our preparations underway or completed.

But we can do Balkans for future campaigns.

Nice to hear that preparations are going well!

The Middle eastern scenario was offering a nice experience in the campaign #2 - Price of a Mile - so I am looking forward to it!

If there is anything where I can assist from a developer's / mappers side, just let me know. Cheers!
