Forgotten Honor presents the new Battlefield 1918 campaign: Price of a Mile
After numerous successful campaigns Forgotten Honor is proud to open the second Battlefield 1918 Campaign: Price of a Mile. This 10 week campaign will feature battles in the Oriental theatre of war from 1914 to 1917. After the assassination of Archduke Francis Ferdinand, Europe was subsequently plunged into the Great War. Will you aid the British Empire in conquering the Dardanelles and creating a 3rd front? Or will you assist the Ottoman Army in defending its homeland from the British? The choice is yours!
The campaign promises to offer explosive, fun, and engaging gameplay. Tactics and teamplay will reign supreme in the field of battle, with detailed organisation, chains of command, and intense regiment-based warfare. Even the newest recruit has the opportunity to become a key part of their regiment by advancing through the ranks and earning medals for their accomplishments.
Battlefield 1918 & Forgotten Honor
Battlefield 1918 is a mod for Battlefield 1942. That means it modifies the game so you are not fighting in WW2, but in WWI with everything that belongs to WWI, like biplanes, trenches, tanks and rifles.
This time Inside1918 and Forgotten Honor have decided to work together and create an even better experience than last time. The only mod you need for this campaign is the BF1918-F|H mod and then you are set for the whole campaign.
Also, for this campaign the Inside1918 team has created exclusive maps designed for tournament gameplay and they contain new content that cannot be found in the original mod!

Forgotten Honor News: Battlefield Bad Company 2 Beta Keys |
|
|
After some Infos about the PC Beta for Battlefield Bad Company have already been posted on the official German Battlefield Site last week, there is a possibility now to apply for a key. Over the whole weekend players and fans have the possibility to apply for one of the much desired keys.
To do so, simply sign up to the formular on www.battlefield.de/beta. The Event endures the whole weekend from friday(yesterday) till Sunday. For reasons of German protection of minors, the sign up only works from 23:00 to 06:00 GMT+1.
The amount of keys is pretty limited. The winners will be choosen randomly by EA. This means everybody has the chance to get a betakey. The most important facts of the PC BETA are;
Runtime: 28.01. – 25.02.
Map: Port Valdez
Number of players: 32
Game Mode: Rush
Background: The fight on port valdez takes place along the water up to a big oil site in front of some mountains of Alaska. The russian Forces try to start an air attack at all cost to destroy the Oilindustries of the area. Their equipment includes Main Battle Tanks as well as quad-bikes and a mobile and armoured anti-air unit. The fight is pretty much focused on vehicles, but also leaves place for infantry fights.
Wie wish all participants of the event much fun and of course much luck.

History
Operation Husky, Battle 2
In mid 1943 the Allied High Command faced a dilemma. The Afrika Korps was defeated, her troops now marching off to Allied prison camps, the German U-boats were being brought slowly under control and more and more Allied war material was arriving in the west. The problem was simply what to do with all this momentum? An invasion of France in 1943 was ruled out early despite Stalin’s wishes and the Allies turned their attention towards the island of Sicily. The invasion of Sicily was driven by two main factors; first the Allies needed to secure shipping lanes in the Mediterranean and second they had a large army in Tunisia just ready to go. The Americans were still eager to invade France and were not willing to commit to an Invasion of Italy, so Operation Husky had the potential of being the last major offensive of the Allies in the Mediterranean in 1943.
|
|
|
The invasion forces were divided between two main overall objectives. The Americans would land in the south near the town of Gela and advance to the west with the goal of protecting the flank of the British and Canadian troops. The British Commonwealth forces would land near Syracuse and advance up the eastern side of Sicily towards Messina with the goal of cutting of the Axis retreat. The Germans had heavily reinforced Sicily in the months previously suspecting an attack was imminent. This included the Hermann Goering Panzer Division and the 15th Panzergrenadier division, both of which were well equipped with tanks. On July 9th 1943 the invasion began. The German Panzer units put up a tough fight, but the Italian defenders were over stretched and quickly broke under the Allied attacks. Except for heavy fighting near Gela, the Allied forces advanced quickly of the beach and in many places suffered only minimal and token resistance. Axis airpower delivered a terrible toll on Allied ships supporting the landings but was unable to stop their guns from silencing all Axis opposition in range. As the Allies moved further inland however, the terrain soon began to turn against them and the relative easy victories in the early days were not to last……
|

The casualties on the Axis side totaled 29,000, with 140,000 (mostly Italians) captured. The U.S. lost 2,237 killed and 6,544 wounded and captured; the British suffered 2,721 dead, and 10,122 wounded and captured; the Canadians suffered 2,410 casualties including 562 killed and 1,848 wounded and captured. For many of the American forces and for the entire Canadian contingent, this was their first time in combat. The Axis successfully evacuated the entire garrison in Messina. Rescuing such a large number of troops from the threat of capture represented a major success for the Axis. In the face of Allied naval and air superiority, this evacuation was a major Allied failure.

First of all we want to welcome Pasquill in our modding team. He will participate in the development of new content for our Italian campaign, which include new city buildings to let our mappers to recreate real Italian cities, and smaller statics to be more accurate with the envoirement. Besides, modding team is also coding improvements for the spawning system. Hopefully, a rallypoint spawn system is going to offer full inmersion gameplay in our upcomming battles. This week we show you a Italian city building. Both versions of this building were made by [F|H]Herc.
